William “Bill” R. Ploehs of Cincinnati passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2024, at the age of 71. He was a devoted husband of Deborah Ann Ploehs (nee Freel), married for 49 years; beloved father of Todd Ploehs, Chad Ploehs, Rachel (Terrence) White; loving grandpa of Peyton, Brayden, Alexia, and Ryan; cherished son of the late Ruth and Ralph Ploehs and son-in-law of the late Frances (Harold) Dugan and late Joseph (Jane) Freel; beloved brother and brother-in-law Gary (Tami), John (Mary), and Jimmy; of the late Darlene (Bill), late Joey, Rachel (late Tom), Randy (Beverly). He will be dearly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.
Bill graduated from Elder High School in 1970 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated employee of the Cincinnati Water Works for over 32 years. After serving his country, he married his loving bride, Debbie, and built a family legacy of three children and four grandchildren. He was a loyal servant to 4:30 mass on Saturday afternoons at St. Lawrence Church.
Bill took pride in building a strong foundation for his family. His presence could light up a room with his loving smile and contagious laugh. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, attending his grandchildrens sporting events, and going on Sunday drives with his beautiful bride. He was a devoted family-man, one of a kind grandfather, and loving uncle, brother, and friend of many.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, 5-8pm at the Schaeper Center (the old Super x) at Elder High School 4005 Glenway Avenue. Mass will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 10am at St. Lawrence Church 3680 Warsaw Avenue.
