Robert W. Chetwood, a dedicated public servant and beloved family man, was born on July 6, 1939, Cincinnati, Ohio. He led a distinguished career in law enforcement, serving with honor and integrity in the Delhi Police Department from February 6, 1969, until his retirement on February 28, 1996. Beginning his journey as a patrolman, he ascended to the rank of Lieutenant, earning the title of Lieutenant Bob Chetwood. His steadfast commitment to duty, professionalism, and leadership made him not only a pillar of strength within the department but also a respected figure in the community he served.

Robert's legacy is marked by his unyielding dedication to his profession, which set a standard for future generations within the police force. His impact on the Delhi Police Department is deeply felt, and he is remembered with great respect and admiration by both colleagues and community members alike.

Beyond his esteemed career, Robert cherished spending time with his family, which was always at the core of his life. He entered the Coast Guard the day after graduating high school in 1957, showcasing his commitment to service early on.

Robert passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio, surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Janis (Teenie) Vineyard Chetwood; his brother Gary Chetwood and his wife Nancy; his son Mark Chetwood and his wife Marcia; his daughter Patricia Biehl and her husband Doug; as well as his stepchildren, Todd Deasey, Lisa Anderson and her husband Russ, and Amy Deasey Witsken and her husband Mike. He is also survived by three brothers-in-law; Jerry, Wayne and Bobby Vineyard,  and two sisters-in-law; Sylvia Kettlewell and Judith Vineyard. In addition he was loved and adored by 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his father, Myrl Chetwood; his mother, Marciel Gabe; brother; Blaine Chetwood, brothers-in-law Ted, Jack and Jim Vineyard and sister-in-law, Connie Cinnamon. 

Robert W. Chetwood will be remembered not only for his service and dedication but also for the love he shared with his family and the profound impact he had on all who knew him. His legacy will undoubtedly endure through the memories held dear by those who loved him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday January 9, 2025 from 5pm until 7pm at the Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Rd. 45233. Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 10, 2025 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bob’s name to Delhi Citizens Police Association, 934 Neeb Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45233.
