Raymond George Baur, known to family members as “Mike”, “Ray” to friends, and “Uncle Shorty” to his nieces and nephews, passed away on July 8, 2022 at the age of 74. He was born on November 8, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Family, friends, humor, and sports were a theme throughout Ray’s life. Ray was a Proud Elder Panther (’66) where he played football, before he was recruited to play football for Xavier University (’70). After college, Ray served in the Marines before starting his lifetime career in Sales. Ray moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota in 1985 where he raised his family. It was here that he became part of a close-knit boating community. He returned to Cincinnati in 2007. If you were to ask Ray, he would say some of his fondest memories were of coaching and watching his sons play sports. Then later, spending time with his grandchildren and especially watching them playing their sports.
Ray was preceded in death by his father (Red), mother (Dolores). He is survived by his wife Lynne and his son Greg (Stormy) Baur, son Kevin (Annie) Baur, and five grandchildren Bryce, Siri, Kanton, Emerson, and Brody Baur. He is also survived by his sisters Sandy (Mike deceased) Gunning, Mary Kay (Jim) Reinert, and brother, Bob (Toni) Baur, many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends he made throughout his life.
Visitation will be held at St. William Church, 4108 west 8th St. on Friday July 15, 2022 from 9am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10am.
