Michael T. Taylor

Michael “Mike” Terrence Taylor, 57, was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to those around him. He lived a life full of purpose, love, and humility, never seeking the spotlight, but always being the steady presence others could count on. Mike grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from Moeller High School in 1985. It was on his senior trip to Daytona Beach that he met the love of his life, Kim, a westside girl who would later become his wife of 34 years. From the moment they met, they shared an instant connection, saying “I love you” within a week. They always knew they’d build a life together, and five years later, they did… settling down on Cincinnati’s west side, because, as Kim would say, “once a westsider, always a westsider.”

Mike and Kim were blessed to raise eight incredible children: Jonathan, Alex, Jake, Nick, Andrew, Lindsey, Hans, and Olivia. Family was his everything, and he took the greatest joy in being a dad. No matter the event, whether it was a football game, dance recital, lacrosse game, soccer tournament, or wrestling match, Mike was always there, cheering them on with a smile and a heart full of pride. He loved hosting gatherings at their home, where everyone felt welcomed and included. It didn’t matter who walked through the door, Mike always made sure everyone felt like part of the family. He loved sharing stories and pictures of his kids, proud of everything they did. He was their rock, their role model, and their biggest fan.

Mike earned a full scholarship to Miami University as an Evans Scholar, awarded for his years of caddying at Kenwood Country Club, his strong academics, and work ethic. At Miami, he made lifelong friends who gave him endearing nicknames like “Big Cat” and “Rockhead.” He graduated in 1989 with a degree in business, laying the foundation for a successful career.

He began his professional life at Campbell Hausfeld in 1989 and remained there for over a decade. From there, he landed a job at Clopay Building Products, where he spent 25 years and had roles such as Chief Commercial Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales. Mike was instrumental in Clopay’s success, building strong relationships with customers and colleagues alike. His leadership, loyalty, and dedication left a lasting mark on the company and the industry.

Mike enjoyed the little things like a round of golf, time spent in his man cave, or relaxing by the pool with No Shoes Radio playing in the background. In his younger years, he loved hitting homers in softball while his children cheered him on. His favorite vacations were to Siesta Key, Key West, and recently, Hawaii with the girls. He shared many memories of his love of hunting, waterskiing and camping with his parents and sister. No matter where he was, his happiest moments were always the ones spent with his family.

Mike’s life was defined by love for his wife, his children, his extended family, and his friends. He gave generously, worked hard, and always put others first. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of kindness, loyalty, and quiet strength will live on in all who had the honor of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife Kimberly (Brass) Taylor. Cherished father to Jonathan, Alex, Jake, Nick, Andrew, Lindsey, Hans and Olivia. He is also survived by his loving parents Terrence and Judith (Finke) Taylor and sister Patti Kunkel. Son in law of Colleen Brass and the late Guntram Brass. Brother in law of Chris (Marianna), Steve (Cindy) and Michael Brass. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
