Mary Lou Schmidt

Mary Lou Schmidt, age 87, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023.

Beloved wife of Gerald E. Schmidt (married 66 years). Devoted mother to

Joan Redd and Ken (Kim) Schmidt and loving Grandmother to grandsons

Brad and Zach Schmidt. Not only was she a wonderful wife, mother, sister,

aunt, and friend, she also was a Girl Scout Leader, taught older adults how to

read, and volunteered at Allen House. She had a flare for music, art, story

telling and loved reading and feeding the backyard birds. One of her greatest

achievements was going back to school after she raised her children and

getting her degree from Mt. St. Joseph University in Early Education,

graduating Magna Cum Laude. She taught K though 8 at St. Vincent de Paul

parish school on River Road for thirteen years before retiring. She will be

missed by everyone lucky enough to have met her. A private service will be
