July 23, 1933 — September 2, 2023

Lyndal R. Simon

Born in Princeton, Indiana on July 23, 1933 to Allegra Henderson Reed and Clifford Clark Reed. Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Russel Wayne Simon. Survived by her children Cynthia Simon Vaughn (Jonathan), Eric Reed Simon (Susan) and Karen Simon Budde (Mark), brother-in-law DeVon Simon, nephew Michael Simon, and by her devoted grandchildren Laura Dhaliwal (Jora), Michael Vaughn (Anne), Jeffrey Vaughn, Thomas Simon (Hannah), Scott Simon (Amber), Emily Budde (John Daseke) and Matthew Budde as well as great-grandchildren Emma and Lucy Vaughn, Rennie and Miller Simon and Margot Simon.

Lyndy attended Southport High School in Indiana and then graduated from Stephens College in Columbia MO. She then attended Indiana University where she became affiliated with the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and graduated with a degree in early childhood education. While attending Indiana University she met and married Wayne. They lived in Michigan and Indiana but they made their home in Grand Rapids, MI for a long time where Lyndy was a volunteer in the Hodgen Guild and an active supporter of her children’s educational and athletic endeavors. She has always been involved in Alpha Chi Omega alumni groups- even attending the National Convention. Once her children were grown, she taught preschool at Eastminister Church in Grand Rapids for a number of years. Eventually, Lyndy and Wayne called The Wilderness Country Club in Naples FL their fulltime home for a decade. Many of their Wilderness friends became extended family to them. Lyndy settled at the Bluffs at the Kenwood Senior Star community in Cincinnati in 2018 and has enjoyed making new friends and being closer to her family.

No one who knew Lyndy had any doubt that while being a mother was the most important thing to her, she truly cherished being a grandmother and great grandmother. All of her grandchildren knew they had an avid audience in her and their mutual love was evident to all.
