Born on March 12, 1953, in Cincinnati, Kathy was a lifelong resident of Cincinnati. She graduated from Western Hills High School in 1971. And as a proud West High alum, one of her fondest memories was watching West High Beat Elder in the 1978 Thanksgiving Day game alongside her Elder graduate boyfriend. She would want us to remind everyone of this.
Kathleen had a deep love of the arts. You would be hard pressed to find someone not moved by Kathleen's talent, her voice was truly unforgettable. From high school musicals, traveling the country with a band, to her years performing in Cincinnati’s most vibrant clubs, she captivated audiences with her singing. It was that very voice that first caught the attention of her husband, Tom Scanlon—he fell in love with her before he ever saw her face. Even as she embraced the roles of wife and mother, Kathy never stopped sharing her gift. She performed in local theater productions and sang in her parish choir for many years. Her voice became a part of countless weddings, funerals, and celebrations—none more special than when she sang at her daughter Blair's wedding. Beyond her musical talents, Kathy was known for her remarkable sense of humor. Her wit and sarcasm were unmatched, helping her navigate life’s challenges with laughter and grace. Those who knew her will carry that same spirit forward as they mourn her loss. Kathy was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and a loving grandmother. Her family and friends will forever cherish her warmth, humor, and unwavering love. Of all the roles Kathy played in life, being a mother was the one she cherished most—but becoming a grandmother brought her even greater joy than she could have imagined. Her granddaughters were the light of her life; she adored them beyond measure and took every opportunity to shower them with love and affection. Her legacy will live on through them—in their smiles and in their hearts. Kathy is survived by her husband of 36 years, Thomas Scanlon; her daughter Blair Jamison (Scanlon) and son-in-law Zach Jamison; and her treasured granddaughters Delaney and Amelia Jamison. She also leaves behind her siblings Denny Flynn, Kevin Flynn, Chris Flynn, and Mary Ann Johnston. She was preceded in death by her parents Maxine and James Flynn; and siblings Tom Flynn, Terry Flynn, Grace Flynn, Bridget Flynn and Tim Flynn.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Radel Funeral Home (650 Neeb Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45233). A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory (810 Neeb Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45233). Kathy’s memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. May we honor her by finding joy in music, laughter in difficult times, and love in the people who mean the most to us.
