Jo attended Resurrection Grade School, Western Hills High School, and the Good Samaritan School of Nursing, where she graduated #1 in her class.
Jo had a long, amazing and satisfying obstetrical nursing career. She was a pioneer, becoming the 1st teacher hired by the Childbirth Education Association of Cincinnati. She was the first in the tri-state to receive certification as Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. She devoted most of her nursing career helping moms and babies with breastfeeding. She retired as a Lactation Consultant at the age of 79 from St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Jo and Bob met the love of their lives on a blind date and were married for 57 years. They treasured their families. Jo and Bob enjoyed camping, music, dancing, birdwatching, and socializing with their many groups of friends. Jo was family oriented and was dedicated to making memories that her children would talk about for a lifetime. Jo will also be remembered as a health food fanatic, lover of ice cream and the game aficionado. She enjoyed playing Rummikub, Skip-Bo, dominos, and other games with her children and grandchildren.
After Bob passed away, she adopted a cute kitten and named her Frankie after Bob’s favorite musician Frank Sinatra. Frankie kept her company over the last 10 years, and they were inseparable. She moved into Western Hills Retirement Village and enjoyed living there with all her old and new friends.
If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity or the Parkinson Research Foundation, P.O. Box 96318 Washington D.C. 20090-6318 in Jo’s honor.
