Donald "Don" Lucas, age 85, a lifelong resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, was called to eternal rest on the 19th of July, 2024. He was born on the 24th of August, 1938, in the same city that he would dedicate his life to serving with distinction. Don lived a life marked by devotion to his family, service to his community, and a passion for the outdoors.
Don graduated from Western Hills High School and furthered his education at Xavier University. His career was as diverse as it was distinguished, including roles as a Cincinnati Police Officer, a carpenter, truck driver, Warehouse General Manager, and in construction. In addition to his professional pursuits, Don served in the Air Force, bringing dedication and integrity to his military service.
Known for his loving, caring, and generous spirit, Don was a man with a heart of gold. He was passionate about life, always ready with a joke, and possessed remarkable culinary skills that made him a great cook. His love for fishing was unparalleled, and he cherished spending time outdoors, whether fishing, traveling, or simply enjoying nature.
Don was a devoted husband to his wife, Sandie Lucas, for 41 years. He was a loving father to (7) Children, Karen Goerler (Daniel), Julie Davis (Buddy), Donald E. Lucas (Laura), Jeffrey Lucas (Amber), Edward Lucas (Michelle), and Sarah Hibbard (Sonny). Also Survived by (12) Grandchildren and (9) Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Lucas and Billie Tincher; his brother, Johnny; sister, Sally; and son, Branden Lucas.
Don also enjoyed movies, television, music, word games, and cards. His hobbies were a reflection of his joyful and engaging personality.
Services to honor Don's life will be held on July 26, 2024, at 11 am at Radel Funeral Home, located at 650 Neeb Rd., Cincinnati, OH. The service will be directly followed by a procession to Arlington Memorial Gardens.
Radel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Don's life and legacy will be remembered by all who knew him as a man who truly made a difference in the world through his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
