Delia Domenicone (nee DiVincenzo) of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2023, just shy of her 89th birthday.
Delia first immigrated to the United States in 1961 from her hometown of Chiauci, Italy. After returning to Italy and marrying her husband, Mario, she settled in Cincinnati for good in1967. He preceded her in death in 1982 at the young age of 44. She went on to raise their three children: daughter El(vira) (Mark) McKenzie, and sons Carmine (Amy) Domenicone and Natale Domenicone, working as a seamstress for Brooks Brothers in downtown Cincinnati until she retired in 1999.
In her retirement, Delia took every opportunity to dote on the greatest joys of her life, her four grandchildren: Sam and Jack McKenzie, and Carmine and Leah Domenicone, who have wonderful memories of their generous, fun-loving and pizzelle-making “Nonna.” Each was her favorite for different reasons, and they have wonderful memories of afternoons at Nonna’s house eating way too much of all their favorite foods and playing wiffleball, soccer and tennis in her backyard. (She turned out to be a pretty decent pitcher for a grandmother in her 70s.)
Delia was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister in Italy, and is survived by a second sister, Annita (Antonio) DiLonardo, of Cincinnati, as well as many nieces and nephews, both in the United States and Italy.
Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, at Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Road. A funeral Mass will follow at 1:15 p.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1175 Overlook Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bayley Senior Care.
