Claire Ann Piening

Claire was married for 61 years to the late Albert Piening. She was the daughter of the late Fred Rolfes Sr. and the late Ruth (Schroeder) Rolfes. Claire was a loving sister to Mary Palmer and was preceded in death by siblings Rosemary Rolfes, Robert Rolfes, Fred Rolfes Jr., and Joan Bacon. Claire was the loving and cherished mother to the late Jennifer Piening, Jeff (Sandy) Piening, Cathy (Chuck) Smith, Michelle (Roger) West, David (Tricia) Piening, and Kristi (Chris) Wilms. Beloved Grandmother to Chelsea (Tyler) Smith, Austin (Katie Locasto) Piening, Rowan Piening, David and Lindsay Smith, Sarah Phillips, Stephanie (Kyle) Holiday, Christian, Jennifer, Isaac and the late Haley Piening, Eric (Regan) and Ryan (Sam) West, Riley, Luke, Amelia, and Andrew Wilms, and Great-Grandmother to Roselyn and Beckett Smith and Oaklen West.

Claire grew up in the Price Hill area and attended St. Lawrence Elementary and graduated high school from Seton High School in 1959. Claire married Albert Piening on June 3, 1961. She worked full time until becoming a mother in 1962. After this she dedicated all of her time and love to raise her six children.

Claire loved her family and was proud of all of her children and grandchildren. She loved big family gatherings, a majority of which she hosted. She was always involved with her kids in their overall well-being, life, sports, extracurriculars, and making sure they had everything they ever needed. Her dedication to her family was truly extraordinary and leaves behind a legacy that is unmatched.

She showed kindness, care, and empathy to all of her family, extended family, friends and whomever she encountered. She never hesitated to help anyone, however and whenever she could.

 Visitation will be held on January 18, 2025, at Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45233 from 9:30-10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, 808 Neeb Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45233 at 11 am the same day.
