Christopher “Chris” Joseph McCarthy, beloved husband of 32 years to Geralyn “Geri” (James) McCarthy peacefully passed away on May 9th 2024, surrounded by family at home. 


Chris was preceded in death by his eldest daughter MacKenzie McCarthy, mother Barbara McCarthy and his brother Steve Grace. Raised by Micheal and Marty Grace, with their children Ron (Cheryl) Grace and Sue (Dan) Donovan. Father to Megan (Randy), Mariah (Brian) and Daniel McCarthy and loving grandfather to Peyton Mackenzie and Ida Rose. An uncle to many including: Adam, Erin, Katie, Matthew, Brady, Justin, Lauren, Sarah (Josh), Tim, Bobby & Jessica. He was also an amazing friend to so many.


Chris graduated from Elder High School in the class of 83’ and then went on to attend the University of Cincinnati. After college Chris started in real estate for Coldwell Banker, he moved on to work for the City of Cincinnati for over 30 years. He served as an Sr. Property Specialist at City Hall and then worked as an Sr. Administrative  Specialist at Metropolitan Sewer District until he retired in 2021. 


After retirement Chris was eager to spend time with his family, especially his dogs and his granddaughters. He went on to find a new love for NHL, and continued his adoration of classic rock music. 


The Catholic Mass will be held at St. William Catholic Church, 4108 W. 8th St.

Cincinnati, OH 45205, on Saturday May 18th at 11:30 AM. We will be hosting a celebration of life lunch following the mass at the Miami Township Community Center.
