Betty L. (Wolfer) Baker peacefully left us December 12, 2022 to join her husband of 70 years Leo A Baker, whom she has missed these last two years. Betty was born to the late Herbert and Cornelia Wolfer January 30, 1930 in Delhi, Ohio. She went to school at Our Lady of Victory and St. Xavier business school. She married Leo in 1950 and the family grew by 5 within the next 8 years. While raising five children as the wife of a fire fighter she kept herself busy as a volunteer gym teacher at St. William’s school and earned extra money by sewing bridal gowns, bridesmaid’s dresses, first communion dresses and lots of beautiful clothes for Barbie dolls. She sold her Barbie doll bridal gown at Shillito’s downtown store during a couple of Christmas Seasons. She then worked at Parkway Products for many years, eventually becoming the office manager. She loved watching sports. While she was a Reds and Bengals fan, she was especially passionate about the sports her children and grandchildren participated in and attended every game she could. Even into her 80s she rarely missed her son Steve’s old-timers softball games, carrying a little notebook to make sure the score was correct. Betty loved to travel, especially her annual trips to Florida. She was a long time member at Philipps Swim Club and you could find Betty and Lee in line when the door opened any time the sun was shining. Above all, family meant everything to Betty and she will be greatly missed by those she left behind. In addition to her husband Leo she is preceded in death by her son David Baker, brother Robert Wolfer, sister Carol (Wolfer) Egbert.
Betty leaves behind children Steve (Bridget) Baker, Dan (Maureen) Baker, Sue (Bo) Staft and Nancy (Pete) Kunka, grandchildren Rachel and Haley Baker, Nathan (Melissa) and Jared Baker, Carissa (Brock) Smith, Missy (Joe) Williams, Tracy Colliers, Kim (Jim) Fox, David Staft, Mark (Sherry), Luke (Rachel) and Alex (Laura) Kunka, Sara (Lou) Feldman and Charlie Baker and 12 great grandchildren and another on the way. She also leaves behind her brother Don (Eileen) and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, Dec 21 at Radel Funeral Home (Neeb Rd). Mass will follow at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Victory Church. Donations may be made in her name to the Kentucky Special Olympics or the Rose Garden Center for Hope and Healing.
