Barbara J. Fuhr

Barbara J. Fuhr, commonly referred to as Barb, loved and was devoted to her family. She was a full-time wife and mother until her youngest started school. She taught in the Oak Hills School District as a substitute teacher for over twenty years. While there she was widely recognized as everyone’s favorite sub. Her love of teaching was not limited to Oak Hills schools. She was also a passionate Sunday School teacher at Peace Lutheran Church. Barb later found her true love as “Grandma” to her seven grandchildren: Stephanie Fuhr, Molly Lewis, Jenny Guillion(nee Abplanalp), Rob Fuhr, Mandy Salzmann(nee Abplanalp), Ryan Lewis, and Matthew Fuhr. She truly loved spending time babysitting, cheering them on at their sporting events, and attending their piano recitals.
Barb passed away November 8, 2021 surrounded by her family and devoted caregivers. Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard P. Fuhr. Her mother Louise B. Lyons and father Dr. Albert Lyons. Her sister Caroline Shaffer(Bill) and brother Dr. John R. Lyons (Judith). She is survived by her four children, Carol Lewis (Mike), Margie Abplanalp (Mark), Paul Fuhr (Sandi), and Mary Fuhr.
Visitation will be Monday, November 15, 2021 from 11:00-1:00 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1451 Ebenezer Road, Cincinnati, OH 45233. There will be a luncheon at the church following the graveside services.
