John E. Mcmichael

John E. McMichael spent his entire career in work that he enjoyed. He owned a landscape company that his father had established. He became an arborist allowing him to further foster the care of trees. He had two hobbies related to his career. The first was his orchard, filled with three hundred plus fruit trees, primarily apple trees. He spent hours each evening giving the care required to help them thrive. The second hobby and passion was his rose garden. Here he cultivated and nurtured his roses to create a picture of perfection. He would hand roses to customers, owners of stores and shops, and of course to family and friends brightening the day of the recipients.

In later years, he became interested in the life and work of a Sister of Charity, Sister Blandina Segale. He marveled at the spirit of dedication and tireless energy that allowed her to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Sister Blandina, Italian by birth, helped many Italian families adjust to life in this country through the Santa Maria Community Center, which still assists people today.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Bernadette and John R. He is survived by his wife Karen, and his four sons, Timothy (Ali), Edward (Josi), John C. (Sarah), Andrew (Bridget), many grandchildren, and a great grandson, siblings, Albert, Carolyn Townsend, Shirley Redemeier, James, and many other extended family members. He will be missed.

He received his eternal reward on January 14th 2023. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 27th 2023 at Corpus Christi Church on Springdale and Hamilton Avenue. Visitation will be held at 9:30AM followed by the Memorial Mass at 10:30AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati (Tree forestation) at civicgardencenter.networkforgood.com and the Santa Maria Community Center at santamaria-cincy.org/donate/
